Spring 2016 Beauty Trend Forecast at Prép Beauty Parlour

By | Makeup, On Location, Photography, Prép Beauty Parlour, Uncategorised
In Vancouver, spring is always an exciting season; the city begins waking up from its winter hibernation, and theres always something new to try! Beauty enthusiasts get especially buzzed as runways around the globe reveal whats in store for the fashion and beauty industry. Most of the makeup trends you would see on a day to day basis are heavily influenced by what takes place on the drawing boards of the worlds biggest designers, and theres no containing our excitement for the upcoming season! Heres what you can expect to see trending this spring in the city
As seen on www.harpersbazaar.com

Blue Hues: As seen on the runway at designer shows such as Marc Jacobs and Monique Lhuillier, bold as well as pastel blue shadows and liners will be making a huge comeback this season. Experiment with colour depth by using both soft and bold hues together, or contrast a electric blue liner with a creamy matte lip (also an huge ongoing trend that will carry into this season). At Prép we love the versatility and drama of NARS Eye Paint in Solomon Islands, as well as the easy application and long wear of the product.

Mega Texture: Another trend inspired by what we’ve seen on the runway is texture added to places where it usually wouldn’t. Adding a little glitter is so last season- step it up by adding some real texture. Rhinestones, spikes, geometric appliqués, even intricate facial accessories (Givenchy pictured) will be seen in a lot of print and editorial work, especially haute couture magazines. Small stones applied to the fine tail of the outer eyebrows can create a unique and eye catching highlight, in contrast with a severe contour. Treat yourself to a little texture and try out Préps selection of nail “bling” and Swarovski crystals to texturize your manicure!

French Gone Wild: This trend is already picking up and becoming very popular at Prép! Classic French manicures are jazzed up with fun springy colours and creative designs on the tips instead of a solid white. Prép has a great selection of nail studs, gems, and other appliques. Our nail technicians love to be challenged and are great at creating beautiful nail art designed however you’d like! Instead of a solid french tip, it can be altered to be more narrow, thick, thin, zig zagged, or even checkered! The possibilities are endless.

Blunt: Textured, choppy hair has been in style for a while now, this spring being no exception. This year seems to have taken blunt to an extreme, with messier, shorter, extremely angular and choppier styles seen more and more. Don’t let a perfectly crafted mess fool you, stylists undergo many years training and lots of trial and error before the look is perfected. If you’re not willing to commit to a severe hair cut, play up what you have now with product, such as Bumble and Bumbles Surf Spray to create a tousled, edgier look. Take your low maintenance look to the next level and grow out your brows, as bigger, brushed out brows go hand in hand with this trend. Come see one of our talented estheticians from the Prép Beauty Team to tame your brows, and any other unwanted hair!

Less Is More: Conturing and highlighting has been a craze in the beauty scene since the popular Kardashian women reintroduced the master techniques into the spotlight a few years back. Many popular makeup gurus on social media rose to fame from simply posting contouring videos, and it has become an everyday makeup essential to lots of people. This season, the focus is less on the contour and more on light, natural looking highlights. The more au natural the better. Lightly flushed cheeks with a swipe of shimmer will soon be the go to look for the duration of spring and early summer. We at Prep love Becca Cosmetics highlighters, which come in a variety of breathtaking shades and blend into the skin effortlessly for a flawless, natural finish.

Boxer Braids: These days it seems everyone is chasing the bad girl image, and major style icons such as Kylie Jenner and Bella Hadid have reintroduced the laid back “hood” girl style, including the 90’s braid craze. Thick corn rows and double french braids paired with a light sun kissed face and fluttery lashes will be blowing up Instagram feeds well into late summer. Seal the ends of your braids seamlessly with New Invisibobble, now available at Prép, and is a great alternative to unreliable and painful hair elastics.
