Now lets skip that awkward stage of sitting with a nail tech who was a mere stranger only seconds ago and tell you all a little about Cynthia!

Cynthia has been a nail tech for 5 years! Her creativity and designs have caused us to fall in love with her work day after day! Her work was well appreciated when she became one the finalists of Salon Magazine’s Contessa Nail Awards! Cynthia’s favourite destinations include Trinidad, Jamaica, and basically everywhere with constant summer weather! She is ambidextrous- what does this mean? It means Cynthia is both left and right handed! Handy- dandy for doing her own nails!

Prép Beauty Parlour Grand Opening Party

After nearly 6 years of being at our old Hornby location, we had become one of the most populated salons in Downtown, Vancouver! Not only did we start to offer more services, we also began to house more talented artists! After a long and successful run at our Hornby location, Prép Beauty Parlour’s founder and Owner Mika decided to move us to a bigger and better space!

Without the support of many of our frequent and loving clients, we wouldn’t have been able to have expanded into such a beauty empire! So we would like to thank you all again!

Another special thanks to the many vendors who were generous enough to sponsor our grand opening event!

YUMI™ Lash Treatment | Prép Beauty Parlour

Prép Beauty Parlour is proud to announce that we will now be carrying and offering YUMI™ products as well as services! We are so excited to be part of the YUMI™ family and provide more services to cater to all of your needs! Now let’s move on and explain what the hype with the YUMI™ Lash Treatment is!

For starters, any YUMI™ Lash Lift with Keratin Treatment can only be performed by a certified YUMI™ technician. The process is similar to our regular lash lift (Keep reading to learn about the process!), however, the revolutionary YUMI™ is designed to have greater benefits to natural lashes with minimal to no damage.

What’s the process of a lash lift you ask? Although it may sounds scary, a lash lift is essentially a painless and safe way to semi- permanently curl your lashes! It’s perfect for ladies who fear the lash curler (guilty!!), have lush, long lashes that droop down, or just any ladies that love the way their lashes look curled! A lash lift eliminates the need to curl your lashes every morning, leaving you to wake up with already curled lashes! Flawless! For more on lash lifts, click HERE!

The process is simple. Your Prép technician will prep the surface and lay a gel pad to ensure none of the solution will touch your skin, baby lashes, etc. A silicon bump is then laid on top for your top lashes to sit on top. The larger the bump– the bigger and looser the curl and vice versa! It should last you from 4-6+ (We have gotten 12 weeks too!) weeks depending on your natural lashes and lash cycle!

So what is the difference with YUMI™? YUMI™ lift uses advanced technology and technique to lift all of the lashes individually. This allows your lashes to appear longer, fuller, and darker!

What does it mean when you get a YUMI™ lash lift? Unlike lash extensions, you don’t have to worry about getting fills, removals, or any touch- up treatments! There is no maintenance, no parabens, and no harsh chemicals!

After receiving the treatment we ask that you don’t touch water for at least 24-48 hours. After, you can proceed to go swimming, play sports, enter a sauna, and still continue to use makeup and eye creams that contain oils! With the YUMI™ lashes, you are able to sleep in any position without worrying about your lashes crimping, wash your face- using cotton pads directly on the eye

NEW Location | Prép Beauty Parlour

After 6 year of being open at our current downtown location – 1054 Hornby Street, we can sadly say that we have really outgrown our space! Being fully booked with 5 lash beds in use, 2 nail desks, and only 2 pedicure chairs, we were starting to get very cramped!

Our long standing 4.5 star rating on Yelp (with over 130 reviews! Check us out here for 10% off your next visit!) has gotten us on the map for best lash bars in Vancouver, and our lovely clients rated us best nails in Narcity and another best of Vancouver for lashes in the West Ender (Read all about that here!) Thank you to all the Prép ladies! We’ve couldn’t have done it without all the love and support we have received throughout the 6 years that we have been open!

With our new location, we anticipate on offering more services to better cater your needs! With 4 brand new, custom made hair & make-up stations, we’re so excited to welcome more technicians, stylists, and of course, more beautiful clients to share the love with!

So many accomplishments have come from our location, and of course, there are many more to come at our new downtown location at 1305 Burrard Street, just a few short blocks away! Our doors are always open for those who want to drop in and we would love to say hello to our new neighbours!

In our private room with our lovely ballroom wall decor, we offer waxing, tinting services, and we anticipate micro blading services in the future!! Stay tuned…

At our new space, we also have lovely new neighbours! As sad as it was for us to say good-bye to our friends at Mine & Yours, and our favourite coffee shop- Honolulu Cafe, we are happy to open our arms to new neighbours at Musette Caffé!

The expo consisted many beautiful local artists and their arts as well as local business owners whose businesses were wedding-based. Now onto our favourite wedding or event nail looks! Traditionally, brides would often be seen with a French gel manicure. A French manicure, or pink and white (in the acrylic world..!!), is typically when the tip of the nail is white, while the base is sheer pink or clear. No don’t get us wrong. We LOVE and absolutely adore French nails! But sometimes… it’s just not enough!

French manicures are super classy and neat, essential for the modern business woman. But it doesn’t always suit everybody! For those with a smaller nail bed, getting french nails may shorten the appearance of your nails- leaving them looking stubby. For those who do enjoy wearing gel extensions, but again, have a small nail bed, getting a french extension manicure may mean getting uneven nails! No! Not uneven like bumpy- but uneven in the sense that the white part of the nail may overpower the clear, since all of the white is supposedly the extension.
