We say this all the time- the better you care for your lashes, the longer they’ll last! Of course, there are other factors that come to affect the longevity of your lashes. Such as the change in weather, natural lash at the end of its cycle and shedding, or the use of makeup. Some of these are inevitable. So we should learn to care for our lashes the best to our abilities! Let’s dive into how!

Lash Cleansing 

  • Properly cleansing your lashes at least twice a day is essential to keeping your lashes healthy and long-lasting. You might be thinking… hmm wouldn’t it cause my lashes to fall out if I am cleansing them? The answer is no! The adhesive used is water proof! As long as you are gentle and using an OIL- Free cleanser, (see which one we recommend here!) It should leave your lashes looking clean and fresh! Not cleaning lashes leads to build up (especially if you’re a make up wearer! Which then puts extra weight on your natural lashes and cause fall out/ damage).

Stop Getting So Many Fills!

  • We see a lot of clients regularly coming in every 2-3 weeks for fills, which is perfect for keeping lashes looking fluffy and full! But it is also easier for the lashes to fall out faster after their 3rd or so fill. We recommend you come in for a full set followed by 2 fills, and then getting a removal and starting over with a fresh new set! This way the lashes aren’t in different “cycles”.

No Mascara or False Strip Lashes! 

  • Mascara and falsies are perfect for a night out, they’re super fluffy, long, and just look so darn good! But! Mascara and false strip lashes are the mortal enemies of lash extensions. Not only do they put on extra weight on the lash extensions, but they can also damage the natural lashes very badly when being removed. However- there is a way around it! Extension safe mascara! (Check out our favourite go- to mascara here!) Extension safe mascara is lightweight and easy to remove. Making sure you don’t have to aggressively rub to remove ALL the product!

We’ve discussed lash lifts a few times in the past, but we still get plenty of questions regarding the differences between the two lash lift services we offer, procedure, aftercare, etc. I know that when I get any special treatment, I love to read all about it! Even down to the ingredients they use! Are you the same? If so, let’s hop right into it!

First things first, a lash lift is not the same as lash extensions. It does not add length and does not require fills every 2-3 weeks. It is perfect for those lucky ladies with naturally long lashes that just point straight down. Or for those with many long lashes that are too heavy to stay in a curl. The answer to all your miseries? Yumi Keratin Lash Lift. Trust us, we’ve seen the results, and we’re in love! Essentially what the lash enhancing treatment does is bring out the best in your natural lashes. It will lift and curl your lashes so it stays perfectly curled for at least 6-8 weeks! (Of course, some of us have different lash cycles and thus, may affect the longevity of the lashes.) If you’re a lover of lash extensions, then you’ll be very familiar with the first steps of the lash lift. Similarly, a gel pad is laid to prevent any of the lash tint to get into your eye. Certified Prép technicians will then apply a silicon bump to lay your lashes on. The sizes of the silicon bump can vary as it determines the curve and curl of your natural lashes. If you have shorter natural lashes, we would most likely used the smallest sized bump, if we use the largest one, your lashes would be flat (This is sometimes used in a procedure that relaxes the lash lift)!

During the YUMI Lash lift, your lashes will then get lifted and perming solution will be applied to each individual lash. The lashes now begin lifting/perming! A fixing solution is then apply over to hold the lashes onto the bump the proper amount of time. Lastly, the lash tint is applied to darken light lashes! Did you know that many brunettes often have blonde tips on their lashes? Tinting them help bring out the length!

For starters, any YUMI™ Lash Lift with Keratin Treatment can only be performed by a certified YUMI™ technician. What’s the process of a lash lift you ask? Although it may sounds scary, a lash lift is essentially a painless and safe way to semi- permanently curl your lashes! It’s perfect for ladies who fear the lash curler (guilty!!), have lush, long lashes that droop down, or just any ladies that love the way their lashes look curled! The process is simple. Your Prép technician will prep the surface and lay a gel pad to ensure none of the solution will touch your skin, baby lashes, etc. A silicon bump is then laid on top for your top lashes to sit on top. The larger the bump– the bigger and looser the curl and vice versa! It should last you from 4-6+ (We have gotten 12 weeks too!) weeks depending on your natural lashes and lash cycle!

So what is the difference with YUMI™? YUMI™ lift uses advanced technology and technique to lift all of the lashes individually. This allows your lashes to appear longer, fuller, and darker!

What does it mean when you get a YUMI™ lash lift? Unlike lash extensions, you don’t have to worry about getting fills, removals, or any touch- up treatments! There is no maintenance, no parabens, and no harsh chemicals!

Lately at Prép, we have been receiving calls from a lot of men who ask if we have a solution to their long, but straight, pointing down lashes. and yes! Now to find the perfect curl and curve of the lashes, we use structured and curved silicon pads that are placed on the eyelid. These curved pads come in ton of different sizes and slopes to create different lash curl looks. This is similar to the different curls of eyelash extensions we offer (B, D, C, etc). The larger the raise on the silicon pad– the larger the curve of the lashes, meaning that if you go for a smaller raised bump on the pad, you will have more lift. 

Vancouver Lash Lift for Men | Prép Beauty ParlourYour Prép technician will carefully observe and select the correct size so you leave with the look you desire! Gently lifting the top lashes,  we adhere the lashes to the curve of the pad.  After the lashes are adhered to the curve, your Prép technician will then apply a perm gel as well as setting or top gel so your lashes stay freshly curled for 4-6 weeks! (Time will vary depending on your own lashes, weather conditions, etc).
